Hello! My name is Christina and I love to make art!
I love portraying strong, brave kids (and animals!) in my art and creating enchanting, magical places for them to live using, color, light and shadow.
I grew up and still live in the Los Angeles area and am lucky to have always lived in a very diverse community. However, as a child, I didn’t have much access to books or media that reflected what me or my Mexican American family looked like. I really believe this had an impact on how I viewed my place in the world.
I want diverse young readers to see themselves in the books they read so they can feel included, and therefore, empowered. It is also important for them to see and read books about people and families outside their culture, so they can learn about and appreciate differences. I want my art to play a role in normalizing diversity for everyone.
When I’m not drawing and painting in my studio, I’m probably on some type of adventure outside with my husband, son, daughter and our dog Rocco. I love to play soccer, ride my bike, run and take care of my garden.
You can keep up with my art and life adventures on my Instagram feed using the link in the menu above.
